Lausanne, the 4th largest city in Switzerland. It is located next to the Lake Geneva. As the headquarters of the International Olympic Committee is located there, it is recognized as the Olympic Capital. It is not as the other cities I’ve visited so far German-speaking, but French-speaking.
Two of the main attractions in Lausanne are the Cathedral and the Ouchy. The Lausanne Cathedral has begun to be constructed in 1170 and since ever then, it had been restored. It belongs to the Evangelical reformed church. It is really nice to visit. Even if it’s a long way by foot, you also have an amazing view over Lausanne. Concerning the Ouchy, which is a port and also a famous lakeside resort in Lausanne. When you’re standing there, you have an amazing view over the lake with the Alps in the background.
The Lake Geneva (in German Genfersee) is a lake on the north side of the Alps. France and Switzerland has to share the lake, because it is one of the biggest in Western Europe (7.975 square kilometers). As we were already in the neighborhood of Lausanne, we absolutely had to made a quick stop in Lausanne to see and swim in the Lake Geneva. This is what we did. We went to a bath where we rent a locker to put our stuff in it.
To be honest, I find that the people in the German part of Switzerland are more friendly as the French ones. But every city has is own charm, and so I would definitely return to Lausanne to see what this beauty offers more.
