Via Ferreta is an Italian word for “iron road.” It is a protected climbing route where a steel cable, fixed into the rock, runs along the entire path. This setup allows people to access more challenging peaks that were once only reachable by experienced mountaineers. Along the route, you can climb ladders and cross suspension bridges, all while safely clipped into the cable.
The Banff Gondola is a must do during your stay at Banff National Park. It will take you op to Sulphur Mountain, which is 2.292 m high. It has become such a famous place because of its spectacular view over the Town of Banff. Beside the amazing view over the Town of Banff, you’ll also see six Mountain Peaks at once. Unfortunately, the view was not that clear during our stay because of the bush fires and the smoke. If you are visiting Alberta in summer, be sure to check if there are bushfires in the surroundings.
Never heard of Calgary? Well, it’s a city located in the province of Alberta, Canada. With over 1.2 million people, it’s actually the largest city in Alberta. Because Calgary is so close to the Canadian Rocky Mountains, many people choose it as a starting point to explore the Rockies.
But Calgary isn’t just a gateway to adventure, make sure to plan at least one full day to explore the city itself!
Well, for those of you who don’t know where Scotland is located, it’s part of the United Kingdom in Europe. It’s perhaps most famously known for the legend of the Loch Ness Monster—Nessie—a creature that has sparked imaginations for centuries. But I’ll get back to that later. Scotland, or „Nessie Land“ as some might call it, offers so much more than just a mysterious lake in the Highlands. For many, Scotland also means Scotch whisky—and rightly so. They produce some truly exceptional whiskies.
To get to Scotland, we flew from Luxembourg with a stopover at London Heathrow, traveling with British Airways. It was my first time flying with them, and I really enjoyed the experience. Depending on where you’re coming from, you might find direct flights, but unfortunately, we didn’t have that option at the time.
Let me start by sharing how we spent our week in Scotland. Our first destination was Edinburgh—or as the locals pronounce it, “Edin-bra”—the capital city of Scotland and an absolute must-visit!
Did you know that you can spot dolphins in the Algarve? As soon as I read about this, I knew I had to book a dolphin tour. After doing some research, I decided on the company Wild Watch Algarve. They have a great reputation online, and they offer a fantastic guarantee: if you don’t see any dolphins on your first trip, you can go on another tour for free. It’s a great offer because, as with all wild animals, you can never be sure whether you’ll spot dolphins or not.
