Florence is the capital city of the the Tuscany, an Italian region in Italy. It is also the most popular city in that region. As to the historical aspect, it is known as the birthplace of the Renaissance and has a very medieval European city centre. In 1982, it was declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
