Seville – the capital of Andalusia in Spain

Seville, or Sevilla in Spanish, is the largest and capital of Andalusia. It has is own official motto, which is „NO8DO“. In Spanish it means „No me ha dejado“ and in English „It (Seville) has not abandoned me“. It was my first time there and I had the impression that it is just an amazing city with a lot of beautiful places and things to do and see. You really get to know the Spanish feeling in that city.

Something you just can’t ignore is to eat TAPAS! It was my first time where I eat it, and I absolutely loved it. For those who doesn’t know what it is, it’s basically small meals. You order a few different tapas, so that you can try a lot of different things without feeling bloated.

Plaza de Espana

I can only say, that it is one of the most beautiful places I’ve been to so far. It is a must do in Seville. Just sit down on a bench and let it sink in. It was built in 1928 as an example of the Renaissance Revival style in Spanish architecture.

Cathedral

Unfortunately the Cathedral was closed because of the Semana Santa who was celebrated in preparation to Easter. But if you have the chance to visit it, just do it. Especially because of the Orange garden and the tomb of Christopher Columbus. The Orange garden is mostly famous for being seen in a James Bond film and the tomb of Columbus speaks for itself.IMG_8408 IMG_8438

The Cathedral is a UNESCO World Heritage Site since its registration in 1987. It is the third largest church in the world and the largest cathedral in the world, because the two others which are bigger are not the seats of their bishops, which is the case in the one in Seville.

Maestranza

The Maestranza is the oldest bullring in the world and the cities most enjoyable tourist attraction. It was built in 1749. Even if I’m not a supporter of these kind of things, I wanted to see the arena. And it was really impressive to see the size of it. One time per year, there is the Seville Fair which is also the most famous bullfighting festival in the world.

Maria Luisa Park

This is the park in front of the Plaza Espana and also the principal green area of Seville. It is one of the most beautiful parks I’ve ever seen.

IMG_8108Torre del Oro

The Torre del Oro is not as special as the other things I’ve recommended, but it’s a beautiful tower with a roof made out of gold. In the past, it was a military watchtower to control the access to Seville.
